I made this for a create a "Fat" Female Superhero Contest: [link]
I was truly ticked off about the harsh critique the Batwoman picture received, so I decided to toss my hat in the ring and create a fat female superhero. We definitely need more fat female superheroes, not to mention fat female villainesses, too.
I've always loved the Marvel Universe Handbook Handbooks, so here we have her stats in that tradition.
Real Name: Maggie McKenna
Occupation: Theoretical physicist
Legal status: American Citizen with no criminal record
Marital status: Single
Known relatives: Kelly McKenna (sister)
Group Affiliation: None
Base of operations: Richmond, Virginia
First appearance: Monday, August 6, 2012 on Deviant Art
Origin: Theoretical Physicist Maggie McKenna was working on very little sleep during a most critical stage of her blackhole generator. The idea was to be able to generate a black hole in a small environment for scientific study. It was also designed with a reverse polarity in mind so nothing got sucked in. While slowly pulling a lever back so as to not open a blackhole in a giant burst, she began to fall asleep, and as she did, she leaned back and pulled the switch too fast. Doing so did as she feared, and when the lever was thrown faster than it should have been as a result, the blackhole opened exponentially and bombarded her with mysterious dark energy. After being enveloped by it, the dark energy began seeping through her pores, eyes, nostrils and mouth. Since she was pinned to the wall by the oncoming energy and couldn't turn off the switch, a blast of the dark energy poured forth from her finger tips and pushed the switch forward, thus turning it off. It was then that Maggie discovered her dark energy power, and that it could be activated by a mere mental command. Maggie feared what others would think, as well as what would become of her if others found out, so she kept it a secret. Days later, she was forced to use her powers again when three terrorists broke into her lab, demanding technology they could use for their own nefarious purposes. She was able to take the three down without giving away that it was she, herself, behind the "dark shadows" that attacked the intruders before alerting the authorities. She came to the conclusion that her powers could be a great asset to mankind, and decided to use her powers to defend her great city of Richmond, Virginia. With 8 being her favorite number, and her powers being black in color, it didn't take her long to decide upon the name Eight-Ball.
Weight: 360 lbs.
Eyes: Brown (as Maggie), swirling black (as Eight-Ball)
Hair: Auburn (as Maggie), black (as Eight-Ball)
Unusual features: When she fully activates her powers and becomes Eight-Ball, Maggie's irises become black and swirl with dark energy; her hair concurrently turns black.
Powers: As Eight-Ball, Maggie is able to generate concussive blasts of dark energy, as well as form dark energy constructs. However, the more elaborate, intricate, and large the contstruct is, the greater the strain it is on her. However, as she has gained more experience and practice with her powers, the less the strain appears to be on her. She also possesses enhanced strength and stamina. Her speed and agility are also quite enhanced for a woman of her size. While she cannot fly on her own, she can use her dark energy powers to take to the skies, such as creating two disc shaped platforms to stand, hover and fly upon. She possesses slightly above average fighting skills which she acquired from a self-defense class she took with her sister, Kelly.
Weapons: Eight-Ball has been known to make equipment and gadgets in her lab to help in her ongoing battle against crime. Among her gadgets, she has carried devices ranging from dark energy mines, used to envelop and entrap opponents, to powerful smoke bombs, which allow her dark energy powers to become virtually invisible in the smoke, thus catching her enemies off guard.
